| Amazon Kindle: Single-Functional to Multifunctional? |
|
Amazon is taking its toll to making the Kindle multifunctional. With their experimental Webkit browser they are adding more functions to this e-book reader. I use the Kindle solely for reading but getting thru the internet is a plus. It's unfair to compare the Kindle to the IPad. I always find that comparison stupid enough since the kindle is not even a touchscreen. They are two different devices which are targeted at different markets. The kindle may not be the first e-book reader that has been launched, but so far the most successful. Amazon may think of adding more to it, I guess it would be making it much faster and adding a few extra features. Compared to its predecessors, the kindle really did improve significantly. From its weight loss, the screen, its feel to its battery life, these factors have been all improved notably. But if the improvement goes another way, from being an e-book reader to becoming more of an e-book reader/ PC, will others upgrade? This again brings to mind the changes that could make the Kindle just another WANNABE. Some things are better off not changing. A little iteration will help to optimize its functions, for the new generation to come. It always comes down to what you are looking for in a device. I love the Kindle for what I bought it as, a truly magnificent E-Book reader. |
